Competitive Edge Labs - Products FAQ

What is a prohormone?
Prohormone supplements are substances that are precursors to a hormone. For the purpose of bodybuilding or strength training, the main hormone that is increased is testosterone because it has a tremendous effect on muscle growth.

Each prohormone is a slightly different substance and has different effects. Some have "wet" gains because they have greater muscle growth but also have some fat gain as well caused by the increase of estrogen as well as testosterone. A more "dry" prohormone may not increase testosterone quite as much but also helps control the estrogen so that you have strength and muscle gains without additional fat gain.

Prohormones are NOT steroids! All of them sold on this site are legal. However, the FDA has banned some of the more potent prohormones in the past.

What is a "Cycle"?

A cycle is the period of time a user takes a prohormone - usually 4 to 6 weeks. This is because prohormone supplements take a toll on the body, particularly the liver and prostrate. The user needs to limit his time on it to stay safe and not damage his body.

It is very important to note that you should be taking some supplements during your cycle to help detoxify and nourish your body during a cycle. Some products designed for this is Cycle Assist and Liver Assist XT.

Please, always follow the directions on the bottle and stay safe. To do some research you might try searching for "H-Drol stack" for whatever the prohormone it is that you are interested in. You are sure to find plenty of information on the subject.

A generally safe rule of thumb is to make your Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) as long as your cycle and then a rest period as long as your cycle before you start another.

What is PCT or Post Cycle Therapy?

Post Cycle Therapy is the supplements that you take AFTER your cycle. This helps your body detox and helps it regain its natural ability to produce testosterone on its own. When you are "On Cycle," the prohormones increase testosterone more than your body ever could on its own, so your body stops trying to make it itself since it determines that you don't need anymore.

This might sound scary to you if you've never tried a prohormone before, but it’s quite normal. An all-in-one product that helps your body recover its natural ability to produce testosterone is PCT Assist. Sometimes Inhibit-E is used to suppress your level of estrogen during PCT and a product that used to clean and detox your liver and make it healthy is Liver Assist XT.

A generally safe rule of thumb is to make your PCT as long as your Cycle and then a rest period as long as your cycle before you start another.

What is a stack and how do I know how to stack prohormones?

A stack is the prohormone combined with supplements to help your body during the cycle. Sometimes multiple prohormones or anabolic supplements are taken during a cycle, but this is not recommended if you have little to no experience with prohormones. See what the effect of one prohormone is on your body first before you try more than one and start on the lower side of the dosage.

To do some research you might try searching for "H-Drol stack" for whatever the prohormone that you are interested and you are sure to find plenty of information.

If you have never tried prohormones before, try a milder prohormone by itself first, like H-Drol. Even if with milder prohormones, always make sure that you have cycle assist supplements during your cycle and PCT products "On-Hand" during the beginning of your cycle. Are prohormones legal?

Yes, currently they are legal in the US and some other countries. Prohormones are probably banned and can potentially show up on a drug test for sports or competitions. Check your sport sanctioning body for laws and specific information before taking any.

Who should use prohormones?

Males only who are older than 21. Women should never take prohormones. Most experienced users will advise several years of training to get a feel for diet and training.

If you are under 21 years old can be detrimental to your health as it may cause closure of growth plates, resulting in permanently stunted growth. It can also result in potentially serious endocrine system problems.

Those with the potential for or already enlarged prostate or those susceptible to male pattern baldness should not use prohormones nor should prohormones be used by people with heart conditions, high blood pressure, who currently have gynocomastia or have liver or kidney problems.

If you have any doubts, see a doctor before using prohormones. Be aware that some doctors are unaware that prohormones can be taken safely and it is often demonized. However, there are doctors who are aware that it can be taken safely.

We also recommend taking products by trusted companies like Competitive Edge Labs and Serious Nutrition Solutions.
